Do yourselves a favor: Buy a plane ticket on Qatar Airways that connects through Doha, Qatar. Then pray that you get delayed. Trust us...its awesome!
We were two hours late getting out of Kathmandu, and thus when we landed in Doha, our flight had already closed. Not to fear however as we'd already been rebooked onto a Turkish Airlines flight this morning to Istanbul. And, we were set up in a beautiful room in Doha with two complimentary meals, airport transfer AND the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in.
Even if we hadn't just arrived from Kathmandu, we would have noticed how amazingly clean Qatar is. Doha, as much as we could tell buzzing the skyline to land, appears to have the most dramatic and modern architecture of any city we've seen. Everyone that we encountered at the airport and the hotel was incredibly kind and helpful. The buffet meals that we were served were over the top.
We are now happily in Istanbul and are excited to be immersed in the history and culture of this beautiful city. I think Johanna took about 400 pictures today at the Archeology Museum, so no doubt some of those will grace this blog soon. More to come...
